Musical Theatre

Encore Academy of the Arts offers group instruction for Musical Theatre to beginning and advanced levels. Encore’s Musical Theatre Company will meet weekly to focus on Musical Theatre Vocal Techniques, Acting Techniques, Dance techniques, and Movement Techniques, while rehearsing for their upcoming Musical. The Musical Theatre Company will rehearse under working professionals to put on one Musical per season. Casting for the Musical will be audition based once all students are enrolled in the Musical Theatre Company.

Students will specifically learn about audition etiquette, audition preparation, monologue choosing, rehearsal etiquette, musicianship, actor behavior, production, and performance. The Musical Theatre Company builds leadership, ensemble work, and individualism while strengthening performance technique in acting, singing, and dancing. The Musical Theatre Company will work in tandem with the students’ private lessons to further build a foundation of work ethic and technique.

The musical will be cast by a Director, Music Director, and Choreographer once the entire company is enrolled and classes have begun. Usually, the first two to three weeks of class will be entirely instruction based. As the show nears, rehearsals will become more prominent during the week going from one to three days. The musical will then premiere at the end of the season.

The recommended ages to start the Musical Theatre Company Program is ages 5 and up.
